Product Red is an organization with the intentions to engage the private sector to deliver a constant flow of funds to the the Global Fund in the fight against AIDS. It was also created to raise public awareness about HIV/AIDS by creating brand name products which when they are sold 50% of their profits go to the Global Fund. This money raised by their products is used to establish other African AIDS programs. Since Product Red is not a charity or "campaign" it is rather an economic initiative with the goals to provide a consistent flow of money to the Global Fund. Already, Product Red has raised more than 170 million dollars. This money is currently distrubuted to different organizations in Rwanda, Gana, Zambia, and South Africa. This program provides antiretroviral therapy for HIV positive people, support HIV prevention, feed and educate children orphaned by AIDS and provide low cost treatments needed to reduce the risk of spreading HIV from mother to child. Product red also brings big groups together to channel their power into one commitment to overcome the AIDS epidemic.
